NEWS CENTER - Nurse İkra Avcı has been dismissed from her job after joining a hair-braiding campaign in protest against the cutting of a YPJ fighter’s braids in North and East Syria.

 

Nurse İkra Avcı has announced that she was dismissed from her job after braiding her hair in support of a protest campaign launched in response to an HTS member cutting the braids of a YPJ fighter in North and East Syria. İkra Avcı shared a photo of herself in front of the Ministry of Health on social media, saying: “I was dismissed from my job. I braided my hair to speak out against the killing and violence of women and femicide. The price I paid for it was my profession.”

 

İkra Avcı had previously been suspended from her job and put on trial for taking part in the campaign. She was acquitted by the court.
